Great New Affiliate Tip!

I mentioned to you before that from time to time I'd love to share a great new opportunity for bloggers to monetize their sites. I know that, like me, a lot of you are mommies trying to make a couple bucks off of your blog, whether it be through Google Adsense or affiliate links or selling crafts.

I've just discovered a great way to earn a bit of pocket money (and here's hoping it grows to be more than just that!) with WeUseCoupons.com. Aside from having a great affiliate and referral program, this website also has great access to coupons and discounts as well as a whole bunch of thriving forums for similarly frugal mamas! ;)

As for their referral program, if you sign up to be an affiliate, they will automatically deposit $3 in your account to start you off. From then on, there are two different ways to generate earnings: you can place banners and links on your blog (or in your emails or newsletters) and earn on a pay-per-click basis. I like this site because their minimum cash out balance is only $25 which is very realistic and will hopefully be a reachable benchmark several times a year!

The even better way to generate earnings is by referring friends to sign up. For each new affiliate that signs up, WeUseCoupons.com will deposit an additional $10 into your account.

We have done it! We have hit 100 blog followers and are commemorating it with a diaper giveaway of our very own! :)


For our blog’s very first cloth diaper giveaway, I am proud to be giving away a diaper from KaWaii Baby Diapers, the brand that first took me from the realm of cloth hand-me-downs and landed me in the realm of pure cloth diaper bliss!


Along with my order of several other styles of KaWaii pocket diapers, April (the owner) also offered to have me review one of their newer products, their Pure & Natural diaper. This diaper is designed to fit babies from 0-15 months (or ~6-22 lbs). The new and improved design includes adjustable rise snaps, and the website also displays how the waistband could further be folded over to accommodate a newborn, if need be. This diaper is available in a hook and loop closure only (which makes the waistband highly adjustable).


I have to say I love how trim this diaper fits! Compared to my other KaWaiis (Original Cross-Over Squared Tab Snap, Goodnight Heavy Wetter & Heavy Duty), it is much less bulky, even when stuffed. I’m sure part of this is because it is designed to fit smaller babies whereas the other diapers are considered one-size diapers (from 8-36 lbs). For my limited stash right now, this will definitely be my go-to diaper for situations that need a snugger fit (like under certain pairs of pants, or squeezing into the car seat while in some bulky winter clothes).


Another terrific feature of this diaper is that it comes with not one but two unbleached microfiber inserts (included in the incredibly low price of $6.00!). These inserts are super soft and absorbent and provide great coverage when stuffed inside the pocket. I’ve also already used these inserts lain inside a waterproof cover (with a little flannel liner over top) for times when all my diaper shells are in the wash or are drying. At night I’ve used two of them in the KaWaii Goodnight Heavy Wetter diaper and Aurelia has slept for 10 hours with no leaks or dampness. I am super impressed!

In comparing the Pure & Natural design with my other KaWaii diapers, there are a few things that I don’t like quite as much in the P&N. The Pure & Natural has a suede cloth lining inside, while my other diapers have a microfleece lining. I am a bigger fan of the microfleece lining as I feel like it stays a little drier against baby’s skin and has a bit more wicking power. Additionally, I am a bigger fan of my snap-closure diapers as I feel like they will hold up better in the laundry in the long run (I have laundered the P&N twice now, and both times one of the laundry tabs came undone in the washer and dryer).

I do love the waterproof cover, though! As I mentioned, through a couple rounds of wear (including a long nap, a car ride, and an extended outing in this one diaper), I never had any leaks or wicking problems! The cover itself is made from a “new and improved” Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU), which I've never tried out before. So far, I am very impressed!

As far as the pockets go, these pockets open from the back, like this:


I do find these pocket openings to be a tighter fit than in the Original Cross-Over Squared Tab Snap diapers I have from KaWaii. Personally I prefer a bit of a looser pocket; however, I realized when examining the diaper that if there were any excess fabric, it would take away from the trimness of the bottom of the diaper, so I can understand the upside to this design.


April from KaWaii Baby shared with me that currently the Pure & Natural is currently available in dark blue but is soon branching out into other colors (I notice on the website that there are new photos of sky blue, pale pink, and white, but I’m not sure when they will be available for shipping).
